Shirodhara

Imagine warm almond oil gently flowing over your forehead and into your hair as you enjoy a massage of the scalp, face, décolleté, and neck. Imagine the heavy weight of tension slipping off your shoulders, and waking from this dream completely relaxed. This is an Ayurvedic ritual over 5,000 years old, known as Shirodhara. Completely enchanted by this spa ritual, we invited experts from India who not only brought us a specially crafted authentic set for the Shirodhara ritual, but also passed on their knowledge to ensure that our Shirodhara experience is truly authentic.

Shirodhara is a traditional Ayurvedic technique used to reduce stress, anxiety, and tension, while also improving mental clarity and focus. The treatment involves the slow pouring of herbal oils onto the client’s forehead, creating a deeply soothing effect.

This is followed by a massage of the face, neck, décolleté, scalp, and hands.

Imagine the gentle touch of warm oil and the pressure of massage on the scalp, as all tension and unnecessary worries melt away.

Ayurveda is a holistic medical system originating from India, over 5,000 years old, which views health as a balance of body, mind, and spirit, relying on natural methods such as nutrition, herbs, massage, breathing, and spiritual practices. It is based on the concept of three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha)—bio-energetic principles that govern physiological and psychological functions—and treatment involves adapting lifestyle in accordance with an individual’s constitution and natural rhythms.

In the context of spa therapy, Ayurveda includes techniques such as warm oil massages, herbal treatments, and aromatherapy to balance the body, mind, and spirit. The goal of Ayurvedic spa therapy is to achieve inner harmony and detoxification of the body through individually tailored treatments.
